So, why "twoball"?
And where did you hear about geocaching?

Welcome aboard!

I don't think I ever posted a message in this thread. How rude of me!

I am Ebenezer, and I am based in Rockdale NSW (a suburb of Sydney). I work in IT development in the finance industry.

After a GPS-owning friend visited us from London last year I decided that a GPS was the next must-have gizmo. Fortunately Santa was obliging.

I had read about geocaching in various on-line news articles (e.g. Wired News etc), so I decided to type in geocaching.com and see what came up. The rest (as they say) is history.

Hecta is my caching partner and chief planner and organiser. Unfortunately the impending arrival of our first geo-baby impedes her caching activities somewhat.

Post Team Stargazer
Team Stargazer is currently made up by Paul & Monique as permanent members but occasionally friends will come along for the ride & a bit of fun. Their names are also added in the cache log for future reference.
Team Stargazer is currently based in Morphett Vale (about 25km south of Adelaide's GPO) here in SA.
I was introduced to geocaching by John from Team Astro http://www.assa.org.au/geocaching/ at an astronomical camp at Whyalla earlier on this year. Tweaking my interest, I checked out a few of the geocaching links John gave me when I got back home and... well, here we are!

Hi All, yet another newish member announcing his presence. My name is Mick B, and I'm currently living in Lane Cove in Sydney and working in Hornsby for a council. I actualy make computerised maps (GIS) for a living, so this is a fun application of my work life! Have been caching since November 2002, and I currently stand at about 40 finds. Hoping to get the 50 and my first half star by the end of the year. So far, my geocaching acheivements include introducing the Wyoming Wombats to the sport, who have since gone on to eclipse me in the caches found stakes.

Hi,

I'm ToolkiT, originally from the Netherlands but have been living in Lane Cove NSW for over 3 years now.
During the week I pretend to be a systemadministrator/DBA for a ERP software maker in Chatswood.

I heard about geocaching on the company message board (mainly people from California). Borrowed my managers GPSr a couple of weeks ago and got hooked. Bought my own eTrex in the US (only US$119! ) when I was there 2 weeks ago and am even more hooked now...

Met RedDwarf in the flesh during an AusPug meeting.

I was pretty amazed that there was such a big GC crowd in sydney, since last time I checked (2 years ago) there were only a few caches in NSW...
Now there are heaps, even real close to my home.. I guess it helps since for some reason there are quite a few GCers in Lane Cove....

Hi I am Gayle, but known mostly as Spice. I live near Ballarat and have just discovered geocaching in the last month or so. I am kicking myself as I have just finished my big year of travelling (Hawaii and queensland) and will now have to wait for another 5 years before I can afford to head off again. Looking at all the coodacached opportunities I have missed :? Oh well, in five years time I might have enough experience to get a lot more caches when I go visiting again.

Welcome to the forum Gayle. We look forward to your comments and contributions and we will of course some time down the track meet. I live in the Ballarat area too.
Cheers.
Darryn. (Pyrenees Kid)

Post Greetings
Greetings, I'm Rhino (picked up the nick-name ant uni and it stuck), and have discovered geocaching in the last couple of weeks. I can't believe I hadn't heard of it earlier!

Currently living in Wodonga, in beautiful NE Victoria so am working through the caches in the area (taking full advantage of the extra hour of daylight in the last week). I thought it better to see how others do it before rushing out and placing my first cache. But it won't be long.

Heading to NZ for a brief holiday in a couple of weeks so may find some caches there too!

Hi my name is Ben and I'm a GeoCacher. I first heard about geocaching thru wired.com a few years ago, a mate bought a GPSr and spoke about it but as it turns out, didn't try it.

I had a nervous breakdown in July 2001 and have since been trying to get over depression & anxiety disorders. A few months ago my psychologist reccommended that I get a hobby and handed me a long list of possibles. Orienterring was on the list, in researching it I came across geocaching, it struck a chord with me and so I borrowed the aforementioned mates GPSr and did three that day, twas fun, so I've since bought a GPSr of my own and am finding it helpful. Gives me something to do, plan for, talk about, ENJOY, incidental exersice (lots of walking). Currently planning a few geocaches to hide so my going out to find time is being eaten into... ;-)

and yes, this is a better addiction^W theraphy than drugs.

Ben.

Post team tansy.. gee i guess i'll hve to come up with a better
Western Australia here. In the northern suburbs.
I heard about geocaching on a chat channel on irc and it sounded like somethign fun and diferent to do with the whole family.
My ebay gps arrived about an hour ago.. a garmin 12.. supposedly a brand new shop return.. anyway it works so far.. :) well i've got it to tell me where i am and added a home waypoint, checked my walking speed and changed the time. so hopefully that means its fully functional. It seems in perfect nick.. now to find a cache to look for :) Our eight year old seems quite excited by the idea of cache hunting. Now to just hope the weekend isn't 40 plus like today and we will be off and zooming.

My name is Spindoc Bob (actually it is Darren). Spindoc comes from my days at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, at which I was the Spin Doctor (PR person). Bob is a nickname from High School and Uni.

I'm originally from Greensborough in northern suburbs of Melbourne, moved to Ballarat for Uni and now been living in Canberra for 11 years :o

I'm a nerd at heart (that's my wife's words) - Astronomy, photography and now Geocaching says it all. I work as an editor for a children's magazine on science. I love traveling and have been to Cuba, Mexico, Spain, UK and Vietnam. Jen and I add NZ at end of year. No kids, two cats, one Camry, a Corolla and not enough spare weekends.

Highlight (after getting married ) seeing the total eclipse in Ceduna 2002, visiting Mexico and travelling by train through Vietnam.

That's it!

Hi! I'm David (calling myself "ectizen" for uninteresting traditional reasons) from Brighton, a bayside suburb of Melbourne. I've been geocaching since the day I got my GPSr (a few days ago :) ). I'd heard about this on the net' a couple of times of the past year or two, and always thought it sounded like it might be interesting. It is. In fact, I think it's perfect...
