Centenary of Duigan Flight

The centenary of the first flight by an Australian-built aircraft will take place at the Duigan Monument (see My My – Those Magnificent Men #1 - GC69FA) at 1100 on Friday 16th July 2010. And also through Geocaching we learnt that on 18 March, 1910, non other than Harry Houdini made the first controlled, powered flight of an airplane in Australia, at Digger's Rest in Victoria!

So just 4 months later a bunch of farmers knock up an airoplane in their shed and say - gee I wonder if it will work

Because that's what farmers do in sheds isn't it?

I remember a time in our cousin's shed we managed to put a V8 engine in the local scout dingy.
It wasn't an over all success, the sheep hated it but it sure was fun!
