Geocaching Australia

Anyone planning a trip to Ontario? Mid-August to mid-October is the best time to visit Ontario. The mosquitos disappear, the days are still long and the fall season presents spectacular scenery.

We have an under used guest room with a queen size bed. Our house is fully equipped for geocaching. Anyone interested in staying in a Canadian household for a few days? What will it cost? Your hospitality when we visit Oz.

Hmm, is this anywhere near Toronto? Got a friend who may come over for surgery and need a place to crash. I may or may not accompany her for some or all of the recovery (2-4 weeks). She would need somewhere she can walk around and a house would be a lot better than a hotel. Thoguh the time duration is a big ask.

Anyone have any other ideas for someone who has just undergone back surgery?

We are about one hour drive north of Toronto near recreation areas. Our house is not setup for convalescing. Might I suggest you contact a B&B. They often offer preferred rates for extended stays. (www.bbcanada.com) Try to find one close to the hospital so that cab fares are kept to a minimum. Public transit in the Greater Toronto Area is good for those who are healthy.

Thanks, good idea about the B&B. I stayed in one in Montreal when I was in Canada back in 1997. I will keep this in mind for her. Somewhere without steps would probably be useful

As for transport, the problem with her back (actually the coccyx at the base of the spine) is she finds sitting down hard especially after an operation. So standing on a bus would be preferable to sitting in a cab.

Looks like there are no takers for the hospitality exchange. Well, we are visiting Oz mid-Oct to mid-Dec anyway.

As long as you don't need to plug in your PC there are lots of internet cafes and public libraries also have it available.

If you do have a laptop, try bringing a wireless network card. There is a good chance you will find an open access point somewhere nearby. When staying in the middle of cities I have generally been lucky.

We are arriving in Sydney where we plan to hire a car. Other than Sydney, longer stops (5-7 days) include Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide with shorter stops (1-2 days) at points between. We are planning to avoid Melbourne during the Melbourne Cup to avoid crowds and lodging issues.

There is some flexibility in the itinerary. We would love to team up with local cachers.
