Incorrect coordinates in downloaded waypoints

Post by Bewilderbeest » 22 July 07 11:35 am

We recently went holidaying in the Northern Territory, and had something unexpected happen.

Before we left, I created a pocket query of all caches in NT. Using GSAK, I deleted the waypoints for caches we wouldn't be going near or wouldn't be able to do for some reason. I uploaded the resulting GPX file to our Garmin GPSMap60csx.

When we got to Darwin, we had trouble locating a particular cache. It turned out that the coordinates that had been loaded to the GPS did not match the cache listing. A further check found that this had happened for two of the cache waypoints we had uploaded, but the rest were correct (i.e. the coords in the GPS matched the printed sheet).

Has anyone had this happen to them, or know why it happened? It's damn hard to find caches when you are a couple of hundred metres from GZ :x
