Laptop to GPS via USB/Serial cable problem

Post by Waterwells » 13 December 04 7:03 pm

Throwing out a "please help"??

We have a Magellan Meridian Color GPS and Discover Australia. The Magellan data cable has a serial port connection. We want to connect to a notebook (WinXP Home) however as notebook doesn't have a serial port, purchased USB>Serial Adapter. We couldnt get this to work and from checking WEB appears we need a driver to use this usb connector cable.
Can anyone shed some light/knowledge/details of where to download driver?

Thanks
Waterwells

Hi

The adapter I brought from Jaycar came with a driver. I would assume yours would need one as well. Can you identify the manufacturer/model? If so, you might be able to download one or otherwise I would go back to the retailer.

Sorry can't be of more assistance.

Thanks Andrew ... we've now solved the problem by downloading a free driver from Manhattan Computer Products website .... :)
