SGLS - (Speed Geocache Logging system)

Post by PacketStorm4 » 09 December 12 6:06 pm

Good afternoon all,
I was kicking back this afternoon and thought that it might be worthwhile sharing something i put together a little while ago:
Now i dont want to see everyone out there with these all at once!!

The following is taken from a 'Secret Project' that will be disclosed on this site in a few months time...
Its not that exciting, just something fun we are working on.
----
Further to our initial contact, these are details relating to the SGLS (Speed Geocache Logging system)
We, as far as we know, are the only people in Australia (world?) using this system that was designed and engineered by Team PacketStorm earlier this year.
It speeds up the logging process x10 in standard 'Marbig' logbooks, however due to its size it is sometimes unsuitable for micro's and totally out for nano's

You can see a demonstration of what the final print looks like here, conveniently located in the top,
This is to ensure that you get the right print every time.

Here you can see my thumb. Along with the 'business' end of the deal.
We ordered the sections in blue, off a cheap stamp making website. The total cost of the other stamp was $6. We only used the rubber section from the cheap stamp.
We simply cut down the middle of the rubber part of the stamp to make 2 sections, the top and the bottom, as they were joined in 2 lines 'Team PacketStorm TFTC'
The centre red section stayed as it usually was from the Printy Dater.
As the rubber from the $6 stamp was a lot thinner, we stacked 2 thin cardboard strips under the rubber with a small amount of glue and stuck them back down.
We have logged a few hundred caches over the course of almost a year using this method and have had next to no issues.
The only thing we have found is ours is a little low on ink. When rapid fire logging, it becomes slightly faded. This problem is easily combated with refilling the ink pads.
Also to be noted, the stickiness left over but the previous stamp provides a great place for sticks and small rocks to hang out. They never cause an issue and always have the music turned off by midnight.

Obviously you change the date on the stamp and away you go!

We hope this helps you with plans of potentially building your own SGLS

 PATENT INFRINGEMENT ALERT

Freddo has been using his hand made stamp since 02 Jan 2009. In fact our original stamp ran out of years. We replaced the year scroll and we can now run until 2022 8)
