cache viewing problem in eTrex10
Hi everyone,
My little eTrex10 has been working really well and I've been experimenting - hence the hiccup!
I created a GPX file in GSAK with about 40 waypoints for an upcoming trip (tomorrow!) and put it in the correct folder of the GPSr as per the manual, but when I go to the geocaches on the unit, I can only see one......
I've done it before and it worked so I'm not sure what I've done wrong this time.
I've erased all the other GPX files from the GPSr to eliminate a memory problem, so there should only be those 40 in there.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Do they have differennt codes.
e.g. GC1234, GC1235, etc.
Are you using smart names (which when cut down all look the same).

They all have different codes and no "smart names" (not sure what they are specifically), but the name of the one I can see is as per the GPX file

Re: cache viewing problem in eTrex10
hmm.. I have done all sorts of things from re-setting the unit to erasing all gpx files to only copying one at a time back into it.
On one gpx file I have 300 caches - all simple content, but I can only see 19 of them on the unit.
They also don't display on the map automatically....
The pc is telling me I have 7mB free on the unit so it can't be memory?
Still looking for clues if anyone can help!

Although it's nice to know what happened, try the GSAK GarminExport.gsk macro
http://gsak.net/board/index.php?s=2a85f ... ntry166953
to load your caches.
As a precaution, delete everything inside the GPX folder on the Etrex 10 before you start.

Thanks for that: ran the macro and I've also downloaded Garmin's Base Camp - interesting little program.
Turns out I have ALL the caches on the device (the macro sent a file straight to the correct folder), but again, I can only count 19 in the geocache menu...

Do you have a filter set, excluding micros or something?ktmadventurer wrote:Thanks for that: ran the macro and I've also downloaded Garmin's Base Camp - interesting little program.

Eureka she shouted! Turns out it is a limitation of the unit that it only shows a small number nearsst your location. Once I tried navigating to a cache they ALL appeared on the map. I am so relieved! Thanks for all the help!
