We are going to NZ with our Android phones next week and would only want to use them for phone calls and SMSs in NZ and back to OZ. What do I have to do/turn off to stop raking up large data downloads? Will that be the only thing I have to do to cut down the costs?
Thanks for any help...

I think its call "Use Packet data" but bet very careful you could also turn delete the Access Point names.
I think there maybe some Apps which do all this for you on the Market, but I would be very cautious
it might be safe just to get another SIM while your there because if you get it wrong it could easily cost you $1,000s of dollars.

I think we might take your advice and get another SIM once we get to Auckland. That way if it runs out we know exactly how much it is using.
