Cache Names Instead of Codes?
Cache Names Instead of Codes?
Well I'm the proud new owner of a Garmin gpsmap 62s and love it!
After recomendation from this site I installed gsak to manage everything so have been playing around for hours getting everything set up right.
I have managed to transfer caches to my GPSr no problems at all but I have a question.
When I look at waypoint manager on my gps all the caches show as their code names. Is it possible to have them listed by their cache name ?
Is there an option or something when I tranfer from gsak to my gps?

Re: Cache Names Instead of Codes?
My garmin oregon 300 has an option to display by name or code. The option is on the gps, not in the gsak file

Thanks for your reply blossom.
I have that option too when I am in the geocahing part of the gps, but I mean when I am in the waypoint manager which shows all waypoints on your gps not just caches. It is hard to manage all my other waypoints(for tracks etc.) when they are all mixed in with geocache codes.

Re: Cache Names Instead of Codes?
In your GPS settings in GSAK (under GPS->Send Waypoints) make sure you have %Name in the 'Name' section and not %Code
Re: Cache Names Instead of Codes?
Hey Craigrat,
I checked and already have %Name in the name section when I send waypoints to GPS. I changed it to %Codes and back to %Names again and it changed in the Geocahes section of my GPS, but in the waypoint manager section on my GPS the cache waypoints stayed as codes.
I'm thinking that maybe the waypoint manager on my GPS only reads the code of waypoints no matter what.
I will continue my search for answers.
Cheers

Re: Cache Names Instead of Codes?
I *think* the 60CSx can only handle GCcodes as default for the Geocaching function - if you want the cache names themselves, they have to go up as Points of Interest. (But then they don't work quite right)
Re: Cache Names Instead of Codes?
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the cache code to the same as the cache name in the process of transfering caches to your GPS ?
That would do it!

Re: Cache Names Instead of Codes?
You just go to the 'Note' tab to get the cache name on this GPSr.Dvixen wrote:I *think* the 60CSx can only handle GCcodes as default for the Geocaching function - if you want the cache names themselves, they have to go up as Points of Interest. (But then they don't work quite right)
