Geomate Jnr to Stop Support / Sales

Post by Zalgariath » 27 January 12 4:22 am

Stolen from G+
The Geomate Jr.'s Facebook and Twitter accounts are reporting that the Geomate Jr and it's update service are shutting down. We're attempting to get confirmation from Apisphere, but the http://mygeomate.com/ site has a message:

Dear Geomate.jr Community
What can we say - this good thing has come to an end. We are no longer able to offer the Geomate.jr for sale or continue the Update Zone service. We do hope you've had as much fun geocaching as we've had working with everyone.
To help keep the adventures happening however, we have made some software available here that will allow anyone with an Update Kit and a PC to load a Pocket Query from Geocaching.com to a Geomate.jr.
Regrettably,
The Geomate.jr Team

The http://www.mygeomate.com/ site however appears to still be functional.

It now appears that the web site is shut down, they have made a download available to allow you to download PQ directly to your Geomate using the Update Kit.
http://geomatejr.appspot.com/geomateQtGuiApp.exe

Not sure if the link will work. Otherwise you can get it on:

OMG. I got one for Isaac Christmas last year. It's a great device. At least there is a community looking at ways of updating it. I hope.

Happy to say all is good. The Geomate Jr lives on ... for our family at least.

I just noticed that the Geomate website is back on line. http://geomatejr.com/

I have just updated mine to Feb 9, the update worked as before so perhaps they are back in business.

Best to update while the website is up and running just in case!

Great news! We have updated the Geomate.jr "end-of-life" page, located at http://geomatejr.com/, with access to the Update Zone. Update Zone users can visit this site, login, and update their devices.

Note: This site is located at http://geomatejr.com/, NOT http://mygeomate.com/, and the Update Zone will only work through this page.

Thanks for all of your support, and happy geocaching!
