TomTom mount

Post by Richary » 17 October 11 12:18 am

I've got a TomTom OneXL that is about 6 years old. It's starting to have a problem with staying on the windscreen. I do the usual lick the back of the thing and press it on, and it falls off again. Or does both the windscreen and the sucption cup need a good scrub?

Any suggestions to rejuvenate the suction cup, or replace it with another mount. The catch is I have to transfer it between the work car for weekdays and my car or weekends.

Both the cup and the windscreen need to be REALLY clean.

Interesting, I wonder how well it would stick on a curved dash (and a curved TomTom back).

Yep Richy I got a RAM Mount from JAS in Strathfield there, wasnt too much. However, having just said that and while it almost never falls off, it got a crack yesterday and need to be repaired... DOH! Still they are pretty solid and much better than the mount the OneXL came with!

My Tom Tom One XL bracket kept falling off from the word go. After a while I got sick of catching it while driving / navigating so I replaced it with a RAM Aluminium mount and RAM One XL Bracket. No problems after that and you can buy the parts to keep the bracket going.

You never know Richary, seeing as I am looking at a new ICN right now I may have a RAM One XL holder up for sale!

I've also got a Tom Tom with a windscreen mount and have had the same problem. Have you made sure that you've brushed your teeth and used Listerine before you undertake the mounting procedure?
