Windows 7

Post by jyetara » 17 April 10 9:05 am

I decided to take the plunge and have a go at installing Windows 7 Ultimate onto the EEE PC 100HE w 2gb RAM.
XP didn't want to participate in making a USB Bootdisk, so I just did a Custom Upgrade from the Hard disk.
Took just under an hour to install, and I must say that I am rather impressed with it, on such a low-spec computer. It actually seems quite a bit zippier than XP for some reason. Even when I had all visualizations turned off on XP, and haven't customized anything with 7 as yet.
It has taken a few hours of playing around to get used to, but so far so good.
It was also nice that 7 recognized and had all the hardware working fine, including the KB buttons. I have since updated drivings using the ones posted by Asus for Win 7.

Conclusion: Surprised at speed on such a low-end PC. Like the extra refinements since XP & even Vista (which I never had a problem with)
