Pocket PC and Cachemate Problem

Post by Micknellie » 11 November 09 6:05 pm

I have just got hold of a second hand Pocket PC.
It's a HP iPAQ rz1710
I have bought and installed Cachemate version 1.3.4. This is working unregistered and showing the 10 Waypoints allowed without registration

Problem is I cant get it to accept the registration code supplied.
When I ordered the cachemate programme
I put in the Model # as HP iPAQ rz1710 I wondered if this was wrong when trying to register it on the PDA hence the non acceptance.

So I asked for a new Registration No. and altered the Model # to rz1710
Still not being accepted.
I have a query in with Smittyware, but no help from them yet. Read also every FAQ on their support site with no results.
Anyone got any ideas ???

Regards
MicknEllie

What is the identifier name when you connect it to the computer? This has to be the same as the registration name for smittyware

When you plug the ppc into the computer and open the my computer file it will show the name given to your ppc. When I had one I named it chris for ease. This has to be the name you register cachemate under.

Does not want me to change the name ??
Just noticed that the model # is all in lower+ upper case ie hp iPAQ rz1710

I put it in as HP iPAQ etc.
Will try altering that and requesting a new rego #
Thanks again for your help

Regards
Mike

I have an Ipaq and have been running cachemate from the memory card for a few years now. BUT recently cachemate has started to freeze up. It is also slow to load and to add 1000s of waypoints can take a few hours. Then the other day the whole thing crashed, while I was on holidays.
I have removed the memory card from the ipaq and reinstalled it on the internal memory. but the only problem now is when importing waypoints, the memory is full after about 300. It does load really quickly though.
What I want to know is how does every one else install this program?
