BlackBerry caching

Post by thewhitedoggang » 04 March 09 10:38 pm

Hi what software will work with a BB? My work laptop wont allow GSAK, so I'm trying to get around that. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

An ex-member here wrote a BB caching app that didnt require any offline stuff (worked directly on your BB I think).

Unfortunatley he decided to leave the forums and his posts are not available, so I can't provide you with a link, but I THINK if you go to sourceforge.net and search for blackberry and geocaching you may find his program (his username was deltafoxtrot2)

I don't know what it was like to use, but it was meant to be functional

Actually, scratch what I said, I couldn't find it on sourceforge.

Someone else may remember what the app was called and hopefully they see this post!

I have found a little trick usefull. If you have googlemaps mobile installed, go to the GCA site, find a cacher who is prolific in the area you are interrested and select "logs in google earth". It has two drawbacks however:

1. get an error if this user has more than 950 finds.
2. does not distinguish if caches are disabled or archived.

One nice benifit is that I have been able to find a few archived caches that havn't actually gone missing as suspected!!

This function may help if you're looking for caches near where you currently are and your blackberry allows us to get your co-ords.
