GSAK database location?
I am having some serious problems with my Bootcamp partition on my mac. Anyway ...
Can someone tell me where in the directory structure I am most likely to find my GSAK database? I think I'm going to need to reinstall Windows and want to retrieve my database first, otherwise there are a lot of caches to re-solve

Re: GSAK database location?
Under GSAK there should be a backup folder. Make a copy of the files in their and try each to see whether you have a viable backup. The backups are done each time you save GSAK. Remember copy and play with the copies.

Thanks Freddo. I can't restart GSAK, but I can still access the directory structure. I'll copy the directory you suggest, and cross my fingers.

Mine are in:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\gsak\data
One of these folders is hidden, so you'll have to set it as shown in properties.

I find the best way is to actually run a backup manually - then you can control which databases are backed up, and specify the location for the backup file.
From the File menu, select Backup...
And of course to import the data back after you reinstall, use File -> Restore...

Oh damn. I saw this after I had removed the Windows partition (and, by association, all the files) and after I had found this out the hard way ...J_&_J wrote:Mine are in:

I might be hitting some of you up for solutions to puzzles I know I have solved ...

Re: GSAK database location?
It turns out that I was cleverer luckier than I thought. I backed up the AppData folder, so it's all good .
Thanks to everyone that offered advice.

The other way to check your data locations is to use the Folder Finder tool through "Tools=>GSAK Folder Finder"
