Image linking woes...

Post by The Ginger Loon » 02 July 06 12:05 am

Howdy all,

I've uploaded some images to the gallery but for the life of me I can't seem to get them to display in the cache page on GCA. I have tried using the following code in my log to display the image;

Code: Select all

<img src="http://gallery.geocaching.com.au/Team-Chaos-Fabric-of-History-3/WilliamEwartHart2.jpg">
but this just displays the good ol' white square with the red X icon.

I read the source code for the cache page to see what others have used and it looks the same.

I looked up the wiki underGallery but the entries titled "To Add an item to a new log:" and "To Add an item to an existing log:" are at odds to what I experienced when logging the cache. There is no icon with a camera to be seen when editing a log.

Can someone shed some light on this for me please???

Thanks in advance.
L :shock: N

PS: Oh yes I just remembered I have also had the same problem when trying to post images to the forum. In the end I had to store the images elsewhere and link them in to the forum...

That fixes it for the forum but not for the log...

Could you have a look at this and tell me what I'm doing wrong please.

done
just go to the gallery, right click the file and select "view image"
then paste that exact image url into the img src tag

(or wait a few weeks and you might be surprised!)

This worked for me:

(img src=http://gallery.geocaching.com.au/albums ... Hart_2.jpg")

(with the correct brackets, of course)

Thanks i! and PB_L for your help and assistance. What I don't understand is this;

If I browse to the image via the gallery, the URL doesn't have the "/album" component.

I guess I'll just have to commit this one to memory... :roll:

use the URL from the Image properties, not the link.
