well personally i dislike the new fancy geocaching australia map for the one reason . that it that the cache names arent given on the map like the old one had. this made planning a trip a lot easier as you could see what was around, rresearch the cache a little etc.... its not so bad now that ive got a PDA but when i was paper caching it was very important that i had the names of the nearby caches so that i could print off sheets etc...
so my request is that the name be re-instated on the map
put the cache names on the Geocaching Australia map [closed]

well if you click on the cache tabs it says what cache name it is and gives
you a link ect, but useless if your printing the map out,
i would like to know if its possible to have the archived cache's removed
from the map, i look at the map to find caches around which i would like
to go to and get amazed at how many there are, but when i go into them
more than half are archived and useless to me.
also don't know how fancy the software can get but on my GPs it shows
the cache symbol like a green folder thing for a traditional a ghost for a
visual and such and such, all the symbols of GC.com which are shown on
the GPS screen on the map so straight away i know from all the caches
loaded into the gps what type each one is, is this possible on this maping
software so you can see what type of caches are everywhere?
or is it just not worth the effort?

iga, ok, we've reinstated the previous map
gin51e, we plan to do some more mapping options when we move to the new site. it's relatively easy to have different icons to represent different types of caches. the reinstated map shows archived caches with a little cross. when we re-do the google ones we can have a cross icon or something for archived caches. they might not be of interest to you, but they are interesting to people who have done them because it's a way of getting your bearings ("oh, it's just near where the old XYZ cache was...)
