Top 10 Finders query [closed]

Post by Map Monkey » 25 March 05 8:23 pm

Hi,

Good to see a new (?) face in chet&jane apparently travelling around australia from Canada.

Though, what's up with the top 10 finders on the GA homepage showing them in the top ten (40) and referencing Qld as their home :? Going to Qld stats shows them at only 5 finds.

How does the site work with regards to Travellers etc. Why does the site show 40 for All of AU and only 5 for Qld? If i were to travel to NSW for a holiday does my finds show up for the Qld stats? Also, do overseas travellers stats show up here due to them registering and changing their state preference or is it due to them finding an AU/Nz cache?

PS I'm not attacking anyone here  just want to know what's up 8)

This has been explained before and I think it's the latest cache location that they get lumped in with if they haven't got a 'state' set up for them.

This question has been previously answered.
From memory it has something to do with the last finds being in Queensland.
It shows 40 for AU because they have found 40 caches in total, 5 for Queensland because 5 finds were in Queensland, 8 in NSW for the same reason. etc.
Overseas travellers stats show here because they have found caches here. In a nutshell, the caches show in the stats for the state in which you find them. They are stats for the state, not the cacher.

The FAQ is always a good place to start. I add things from time to time - this looks like a good one to add.
