Ghost Train [closed]

Post by teamkittens » 01 March 05 2:26 pm

I'm a little confused about the cache Ghost Train

It appears to have a valid GC and GA waypoint code, where should it be logged if I found it? GC.com gc.com.au or both?
I think it was posted first on GCA then on GC.com. I loged on GC.com as I hoped it would drop through. ???? :?

I was under the impression we weren't meant to cross post - list in one place or the other, but not both?

depends where you want it to be listed.

as you have logs against the GC site, I'd say you just archive the GCA one.

If it's listed on gc .com, I'd log it there - that way it adds to your find count on gc.com and gc.com.au (after the overnight update)

Hi,

The problem could also be due to fact that there is a difference between the two caches with capitalisation.......When importing my logs manually (yes i know you don't need to :roll: ) It comes up with 4 "ghost train" or variations.....

Your GA cache has a capital "G", capital "T" whereas the GC cache is Capital "G", small "t".....remember names are case sensitive. I was interested in this topic as i was the last person to log Ghost Train by Stanwell at Charters Towers, Queensland :shock: There now seems to be 2 caches with the original one at http://geocaching.com.au/cache/gckk55 :shock: :shock: :shock:

My suggestion would be that if you want to register at both sites, do it at GC first to make sure the cache name is not already taken :lol:

Edit::
Eric, See if you can change the GA name to "Ghost train" to line up with your GC registration.... that should fix the problem. Otherwise some tweaking by i! & Co. will be needed.
/Edit::

its in two places on gca
http://geocaching.com.au/cache/GCMMHX is a mirror of the GC one the two linked to above are the GC one and a stand alone GCA one. FYI Acts2 if you want it on both sites just make it on GC then GCA will copy it. if you make it on GCA then on GC then GCA copies that you end up with three listings.

I suggest this could all be solved by scraping the GCA one that is not a copy of the GC one. If this is all to confounding let i! know.

Not really fixed....not your problem now though....there are 3 "ghost trains" equivalents on GCA. :shock:

Correct me if i'm wrong, you should be "Ghost train" as there is already a "Ghost Train".......note capitals....This may be an issue when importing logs down the track manually or when searching.

Is your GCA log a direct import from GC automatically or did you edit it manually? I would have thought it would have imported with "Ghost train" as the name.

Does it really matter in the end :?
Will it affect searching etc :?:
Will GSAK etc have problem :idea:
Is the sky really blue? 8)
How come my underwear has pink frilly lace on it :roll:

this cache was allready called ghost train it was archived and we relisted it. As we adopted it. i i dont really think it matters if you know which location you have been to. oh well others have loged it succesfully.
