When I read in the GeGnome thread, "As far as etiquette goes, don't dump a gnome 200km from nowhere. That's not nice and basically exits the gnome from the race", I knew that pretty much counted me out and decided not to place any. According to c:geo my nearest GeGnome is exactly 200km away.

You asked and we delivered.

Locationless caches will now centre on the last log with co-ordinates.
They will only display the closest 300 logs.
Moving / panning around the map will hide the current 300 markers and display 300 new markers based on the centre point of the newly moved map*
This shoudl relieve some of the lag you see when thousands of markers are being drawn at you end.

*Note: If the 'centre point' of the map before you moved it is still on the map, the markers won't be redrawn. Zoom in or move the map a little more to see the new markers.

Number 1 on this last is now available.

When you go to make your log, you can include 1 image with your log.
Select the file from your computer.
Add a caption to be shown with the image.
Add a description for your image.
Click GO!

The log is created and then the image is attached to your log all in one go. No impact to the GA Cacher app which does this is two behind the scenes steps for you.

After much issue with the NPAPI plug ins for various browsers, we have removed the ability to "Send to" your GPS. This was discussed and agreed to by the Senate in the last half of 2015. As most GPS units nowadays will support GPX files natively, there is no need for this capability and we've removed it to remove the issue of compatibility and to keep the code base clean.

I also noticed that in the popup box that comes up when you click on a marker the link to the finder and that particular log has been removed. Was this to aid in loading efficiency?

No, that data should still be there. Try and press F5 when you next load the map to force a fresh copy of the css file. It may not be cached correctly.

Back in June last year we announced that we would be ending the support for Swaggies.

The code has been removed from the database and all swaggie logs deleted. There were no backups taken.

While we regret the decision to do away with the swaggie, the technical cost of maintaining the code around Swaggies was simply too high for the volunteer development team. We hope you can appreciate that we would rather spend time making your geocaching experience more fun than maintaining code almost no-one uses.

If you notice some things going a little wonky, please report them. Sometimes the delete monkey gets a little excited and removes too much stuff.

Oooh, Geocaches Found and Geocaches Owned drop downs on our profile pages, nice!! I love the totals of all the cache types (I'm up to 202 locationless!!).

Doesn't seem to work in Chrome

It certainly does on both my desktop and laptop in Chrome. I just checked your page http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/J_&_J and it works for me. What happens? No dropdown? No data? Try and press F5 or CTRL and F5 together to refresh the javascript which runs the drop down.

It didn't work for me either, but ctrl F5 fixed it. Very Cool

Your browser has cached the javascript file (done this way to save downloading the file every single time a page is rendered) and for a reason (?) you didn't get the new file. F5 forces the new javascript file to come down. The same sorts of problems exist with new .css files. Eventually they all expire and get downloaded again, but the first time or two or three, it looks wrong
