As many Geocaching Australia players will know, we are coming up to our 10,000th hide! We anticipate that the magic cache numbered GA10000 will be reached sometime in the next few months.

To promote this milestone, Geocaching Australia is offering one lucky GCA cacher the chance to hide this landmark cache. Details of the competition will be released shortly, but get your thinking caps on now and starting thinking of locations and cache ideas that will do this memorable cache justice.

Please note, the GA10000 cache number has been reserved so it can't be hit upon by chance.

While a trad would be nice, something like a virtual would (hopefully) allow for anyone to 'find' it 8-[

Well, the entries are in, they have all been discussed and dissected, and the winner is rogerw3.

Congratulations rogerw3, you will now have the honour of placing the cache with the number GA10000.
Rogerw3’s cache will be a multi, and will include 4 traditional caches that cachers will be required to visit to gain the co-ords for the final location…..i.e. GA10000

The location for the 4 traditionals as well as the final cache will in the lower Blue Mountains, just to the west of Sydney. The locations of the final cache, as well as the 4 traditional caches will be within a short walking distance of parking co-ords, ensuring as many cachers as possible will be able to access the area to find GA10000.

The Blue Mountains area is a hot bed for Geocaching Australia caches, and the judges believe the added enticement of GA10000 will add to the add and its reputation as an area for Geocaching Australia cachers to visit.

The judges, and other volunteers at Geocaching Australia, would like to thank all cachers who submitted an entry for the competition. Although they didn’t win the ultimate honour, we hope they will consider still placing the cache that they entered with, as it is still a worthy cache and will add to the overall success of Geocaching Australia.

Congrats Rogerw3. Sounds like an interesting cache idea in a wonderful area. We hope to get there one day to cache.
