Boss Park

Post by wiskaswhite » 10 June 13 9:24 pm

I have logged a site called Boss Park Waypoint GA6333 27th May 2013. So far it has not appeared on any site. What is the problem?
Also it has been listed on my original acceptance sheet as being in Hillvue. I require it to be listed in the Tamworth listing as the site is nowhere near the district of Hillvue.
Please advise what the holdup is.

From your cache page:
Cache status is currently in 'Draft':
Your cache is not yet published and will not appear on the listing page.
To activate the cache, create a 'Published' log.
Your cache will then be available on the main listing pages.

This, being Geocaching Australia, it's all self service. YOU decide when you want to publish you cache, anytime you like.
Follow the instructions above.

As far as being listed in Hillvue, that's correct.
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Hillvue+ ... a&t=m&z=13

Your cache is hidden in the suburb of Hillvue.
Hillvue is a suburb of Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia. It is a largely residential suburb of Tamworth and is south of South Tamworth.

I do not want to get into arguments over this, but I LIVE HERE and I know that the area relating to Boss park is not in Hillvue. If you won't accept Tamworth then please accept that it is in the Calala area.
Hillvue is bounded by the New England Highway, the Werris Creek Rd and Hillvue Road. Boss Park is on the Southern side of the New England Highway, off Calala Lane, not in Hillvue.
I also want to edit my cache. I need to change the item from a spectacle case (not waterproof) to a small container painted black.
I seem to be having difficulty understanding your directions on how to administer the cache. What do you mean "It is up to me to advise when I want it listed"? "To activate the cache, create a "published " log."?
How about if we start all over again? Please advise how I should go about it.

To view and edit your cache, look it up here: http://geocaching.com.au/my and you can see a list of your caches (draft active and archived), click on the link of the one you want to edit, wait for that caches page to load then click 'Edit this cache' on the top right.

To activate your cache, go to its page (in this case http://geocaching.com.au/cache/GA6333 ) and go to the top left and click on 'log this cache'
Select 'Published' as your log type and click 'Log' at the bottom and your cache will become active.

The location data is what is the locality returned from Google for the lat/lon for the area and can't really be manually overridden.

I wasn't arguing. I was explaining that according to the location information we have available, it is in Hillvue.

The Google Map which I linked to shows that Hillvue is bounded by Werris Creek Rd, Hillvue Rd, Burgmans/Heiligmans Lane (for the most part) and what appears to be a creek to the east. Your local knowledge tells me that the east boundary is the New England Hwy. The map tells me it's the creek to the further east.

As we use Google Maps to determine the location, naturally the Google Map API will return what it believes is correct. We have no method for overriding the Google Map references. If you believe the map is incorrect, then you could try advising Google about the correct boundary.

As another reference source.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillvue,_New_South_Wales
The North boundary of Hillvue is Hillvue Road, Wilburtree Street and Calala Lane. Goonoo Goonoo Creek is the suburb's boundary in the east; the suburb of Kingswood is the boundary in the south and the Main North railway line is the boundary in the west.

Again, there is no argument. The Google Map API is the reference we use, so regrettably, the locale name will not align with your reality.

OK I suppose I have to accept this. I can't seem to find the way to contact Google about it but I will keep trying.
The other parts of my question to you re the editing of my site and how to go about getting it listed it still needs to be clarified. Could you please help me there?

The Tamworth council website map would also seem to indicate Goonoo Creek as the eastern boundary. They would know I suspect.

OK I will accept that, but it is not the opinion of the general public. But we will let it go at that. Thanks for your help. I assume the site is at last posted.

On GCA, you are the Reviewer.

When you open Google Maps https://www.google.com/maps you will see a blue feedback button in the top right corner.
If there is a genuine error, then you can advise them about it.

I have noticed that the airport at Tidal River in Vic. is located in the wrong position on the map, and I have notified Google about it.
I have received a note saying they will look at it and investigate. We'll see.

I've notifed Google about a number of map errors in my area and have had the maps undated accordingly. =D>

I've also told them about errors based on my dated knowledge of an area I used to live, only to find later that there had in fact been a great big highway built since I been there last, and I was wrong. #-o Google pointed out that I was wrong. [-X
