Link to create PQ Query from cache

Post by mtrax » 06 April 13 7:48 pm

Just wondering if would be useful to allow either a dynamic PQ from a selected cache ie Centered around a location.

eg Link= Download PQ centered about cache (5 Km ??)
or created (PQ) Query centered around Cache - which would generated a My Query for GCA caches centered around the selected Cache.

This would allow people to quickly generate a PQ.
Some other ideas would be like the GC Map to generate a PQ based on Google map ie create Query with Map Center and Zoom level.

These are just some rough ideas to make it easier.

thanks

You can do that on GSAK now - using the GC API / Get Geocaches - it centres on a cache you select !!
It's like generating a PQ from within your database without having to do all the PQ criteria !!
Just a pity you can't do it with GCA caches as well........

Given the area mtrax is posting in I would guess he's not talking about GC or GC's api

Correct, this is just for GCA caches only

You know what would happen?

I want 5km around a cache.
Then, oh can you make it so I can exclude ones I found.
Oh, then only traditionals and maybe multi, but no puzzle or moveable.
Oh, then terrain 1 or 2 and maybe difficulty 3.

This is what the MyQuery generator does.

I know you're looking at speed to getting a file, but once you get beyond '5km using this as a start point' it becomes quite a challenge to maintain. Maybe it's something as simple as a new link on the GMAP cache where it instantly fires you at a new MyQuery with some stuff populated and you can just change whatever else you want.

Yes that would be great, something that populates the query, thanks
