Private Tags in Queries

Post by fluffyfish » 07 December 12 1:41 am

I wanted to add a private tag to a query but it suggests that only public tags can be included. Is this correct?

Thanks

I can't remember, actually.
I can check my code base when I get home tonight.
If you're desperate, add a private tag to a cache.
Add that tag to your query.
Run the query.
Does it work?

Bummer.

What are you trying to do? If I can understand what you're trying to achieve, I might be able to do something.

I just wanted to highlight bingo caches related to my card. My current solution is two fold:

1. filter out caches that I have found (well I have that number)
2. manually ignore caches that I don't have their number on my card

And the usual moveable, public bingo tag and published on 1 Dec 2012

This is working ok. Just don't like the fact I am "ignoring" caches. Some politeness issue.....

Ahh, gotcha. Cool idea. Let me think. There might be a way without having to add the full gamut of private tags to the query thingo.

Could we also have an option for the last log on the cache listing i.e. whether it is moved, found, DNF, noted, etc?

I have filter even further down the bingo caches who has "moved".

I know that a "moved" log doesn't guarantee that it it still but hey, I'm a grown up, I can cope with the ambiguity.

That one is non-trivial. It can be done, but requires the entire query engine (both for instant queries and email queries) to be changed. I can't guarantee when that one would happen. Maybe in a week or so I can get that one looked at.

Private tags should now work. Please note, if you make a My Query public and add a private tag, it WILL be used even if someone else runs the query. Essentially by making a query public you are granting the person who runs the query access to the same data you would see, so naturally the query will run using any private tags you have entered.

So my test private tag of "sexypants" can be seen by others if I make it a public queery. Imagine the possibilities.... 8-[
