Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

Post by caughtatwork » 28 October 12 6:01 pm

http://www.cachinggames.com/bingo/

This game requires you to hide a moving cache on Geocaching Australia.

The name of the game is bingo and you are trying to complete each number on your bingo card. You will be allocated a maximum of 5 bingo cards, one for each of the first 5 caches you enter in the game. You are welcome to add more caches to the game, but you will only receive a maximum of 5 bingo cards.

The game software will keep an automatic track of your cache and moves and will automatically complete your bingo card as you find caches in the game. As the game software matches the move logs against a cache, your name at CachingGames must match your caching name at Geocaching Australia.

For each bingo card you complete you will win a prize.

Rules (not guidelines)
Your cache must be a form of transport or anything, even peripherally related to transport.
•Your cache may be store bought or hand crafted.
•Caches for the competition must be published on 1 December 2012 Australian Eastern Time (GCA Time)
Geocaching Australia has the facility to automatically publish your cache on 1 December 2012
Please refer to the Geocaching Australia wiki for more information
•You are welcome to join the game after it has started provided you list the hidden date and published date as 1 December 2012 and add the word bingo to your cache tags
•You are required to add the word bingo to the tags on your entry at Geocaching Australia
You can add the word bingo to your tags by visiting your cache page and clicking on Tag in the Actions section in the right hand navigation section of your cache page
•The game commences at 00:00:00 1 December 2012 AEDST and concludes 23:59:59 31 January 2013 AEDST
•The game administrators decision is final
•You can find and move your own cache during the game period provided it is not the caches first move
•Caches must be found and hidden by the same cacher (i.e. no mailing the cache to another cacher to hide)
•Only moves count towards your bingo card and you must move the cache at least 1km to count as a valid move
•There is no limit to the distance other cachers can move the cache
•Other cachers in the game will find / move your cache, but they are requested to move it on within 2 days

Somethings not right...
I created my listing yesterday. Today I went to draft caches and its there twice! Both as GA4675 and GA4676. Do I really need two?

And this is what I see:
[removed]
1. Am I meant to see that?
2. Are they meant to be 5 by 5 grids?

I've made a small change to the layout to cope with smaller screen sizes. Sorry about that. You might need to CTRL-F5 to see the new stylesheet.

I have no idea what you've done. You may have used the back button to get back to the listing and submitted it twice. Use one. Save one for later.

That's what happens when you copy and paste, you forget to update some elements.

Will logging a particular cache show up as found on all the cards we have that contain that number?

If you meet the "move by 1km or greater" rule, then yes, one cache will tick off all of the matching numbers on all of your cards. Same as if you are playing multiple cards in real life bingo.

Is it needed/recommended to have the words Bingo and/or Transport in the cache NAME?

What do people reckon??? ..... (ie) How do you search for closest moveables in these games?

(PS I have "tagged" the cache 'bingo' on the tagging tab)

Yep you have to add the word "bingo" to the Public Tags for each cache to make it easy to search them ;)

You can search for tags here http://geocaching.com.au/tags/search/au
Select your own state to narrow things down.
e.g. http://geocaching.com.au/tags/view/all/leapfrog/au/vic/ would have been for the leapfrog event.
You can also set up a My Query and add bingo to the tags to see them on a map.

I've added a table of caches with the Bingo numbers they correspond to to help you along.
http://www.cachinggames.com/bingo/ladder.php
Well I hope it helps you.

I've got two on my bingo card already. Problem is I own one and the other will be my daughters. I might have to get someone to find them on day 1 and move them only a short distance
