GCA Server Relocation - Tuesday 25 Sep 2012 (9:00pm)
On Tuesday 25-Sep-2012 at around 9:00pm AEST, the GCA server is being relocated in our hosting environment.
Our hosting environment is consolidating some rack space and they need to move our server to better utilise their free space.
As such the GCA server will be off the air from around 9:00pm AEST until ... well, until it gets plugged back in. Probably a couple of hours at least.
The server has been up continually for 550 days with no outage. An impressive feat considering all of the developer work is free. I doubt you could pay for better service, even if you wanted to.
Go buy some stuff from the shop to show how impressed you all are http://geocaching.com.au/shop/
If the plan changes, we'll keep you posted. Should things go pear shaped you can follow us at twitter https://twitter.com/GCA_updates or Google+ https://plus.google.com/b/1075675432140 ... 0455/posts

550 days? What? No one caches for 550 days and then stops! They at least go for another 5 days!
Well done by the way! Impressive service.

If it was going to be 666 days I would smell a conspiracy and think that GC.com had bought up a huge amount of rack space in the DC in order to try and squeeze GCA out.

After 557 days of 100% uptime, the server was relocated last night starting at around midnight.
The site was down for 2-3 hours.
The My Query generator ran as normal.
The daily emailer ran as normal.
All things seem to be back to normal this morning, so any issues you experience may be based on your reality only. Welcome back to sanity and thanks for your patience and understanding.

No. We were going to go there, but they turned out to be less than desirable. We're in the Primus colo at 55 King St, Melbourne.gmj3191 wrote:Who is the service provider again? They were in Crockford St Port Melbourne weren't they?
