Recording final co-ords for multis to use on maps

Post by rinsemesocks » 30 May 12 12:11 am

Hi. Is there any functionality to record the final location of multis and mysterys and the like. The reason for asking is so that when viewing Google Maps, I could use it to see where the final location is along with the existing traditional and virtuals in the area for when I am planning a caching weekend. It would also be helpful in planning new placements for GC.com as well using the proximity function. Cheers.

In Google Maps select My Places (top left hand)
Then Create Map
Right click and Add a Placemeark.
Not sure if you can place it by co-ordinates though.

Otherwise, you are probably better off using Google Earth.

No there isn't. Doesn't mean there can't be though. Discuss.

I believe this can be done in GSAK using a Google Maps macro but I'd need to test it...

Probably not for placement proximity however.

Hi. At first reading, this left me a little bewildered. Do you want a function (for example from GCA) that shows where final WPs and GZ of Multis and Puzzle are?
If looking for a map to organise solved Puzzles etc. then almost any mapping software should work. I use OkMap often for trip planning. :gnome

Yes. You can store corrected coordinates in GSAK, and then use the Google_Map_V3.gsk macro available from the Macro Library to view them all.

Thanks for the input, people

Now, back on track, how would you like this feature to be implemented on the site (as per the original question)??

As part of the Toolbox?

CR, I think they would like what GC have. i.e. Any time you have a corrected co-ordinate, it comes out in your GPX, on the lists, on the map, proximity searches, etc, etc. i.e. Treat the corrected co-ord (for that member) as a replacement set of co-ords for the cache.

Actually, I like how Google Maps is implemented in GCA.

If you are offering to put it in as a function, then YES PLEASE, as I would use it.

At the moment, I put solved co-ords into c:geo but would like to keep them externally (in case c:geo gets corrupted). And to be clear, I don't want to know the solved co-ords to avoid solving it myself (but I guess you could charge for such a function)......

I export mine from GSAK to a Mapsource or Ozi Explorer program.
