Suggestion re: Influx of Name Change Requests [closed]

Post by Lucanos » 02 November 04 7:12 am

Hi All,

Just an idea, as it seems 4 out of the 5 most recent posts in this forum are requests for Username Changes...
I realise that a feature to change usernames ourselves might (or might not) be in the works, but in the meanwhile could it be an idea to either set-up a form to let users submit these requests outside of these forums or maybe a form that submits these requests into a private forum thread (which would then allow the all-mighty admins to work their way through them).

Was just an idea as I am sure that this was not the original intended purpose of this thread...

Luke

good idea about the hidden requests area. we've attempted to set up one called "Admin Requests." the idea is that it's hidden but postable.
can you see the Admin Requests section?
can you test post to it via this link? http://forum.geocaching.com.au/posting. ... topic&f=20

we are worried that if we open up caching name modifications to everyone, someone could easily register someone else's caching name and then muck around with their logs. so we've set it up so administrators (pyrenees kid, embi, riblit) can edit user profiles to change the caching name.
