2016 / 2017 Game
What, if any, game would you like to have at the end of this year?
Moving cache race?
A "Fleet to Federation" style game?
A play on "I've cached everywhere, man" based on location names?
The 52 day streak (52 caches, 52 days, A-Z then around again)?
Clan vs. clan where the whole clan wins or looses?
Other ideas, suggestions, thoughts, opinions? It's your site, what do YOU want?
---------------------------
Updates from content and suggestions in the thread:
---------------------------
I like the sound of the clan vs clan.
Give the moveables race a rest this year.
I'd like to see a game encouraging more widespread GCA action like the Olympics game (this is happening in August 2016)
F2F was a great game back when I started caching.
"Drop a large number a coordinates" and whoever manage to find most wins. Or 100 points divided by number of finders of that coordinate.
A scavenger hunt?
The summer games should be about "bringing people together".

Re: 2016 / 2017 Game
I'm sorry to be naive, but what is "Fleet to Federation" besides Australia's first 113 years?
The 52 day streak might not work so well for people living in less populated areas (I'd be doomed!) unless it includes hiding a cache a day.
I like the sound of the clan vs clan. I play dZ for points for clan advancement, so I think that makes sense and would get us working as a team more. Would you create a handicap scoring system due to some zones and states already being strongly controlled by certain clans? Or would you have to make calculations on total points from the start date?

I think give the moveables race a rest this year. I'd like to see a game encouraging more widespread GCA action like the Olympics game. Perhaps with a DZ theme that encourages hides and finds of different types in different places.

Fleet to Federation was a great game that we enjoyed participating in, and would love to see something similar happen again.

F2F was a great game back when I started caching.
You needed to find caches based on various themes, so had to be creative in how to justify that the cache met the theme. But more importantly was scored on difficulty and terrain. So a theme matched 5x5 was a big scorer.
They were the days of extreme caching.
Drive 200 km, climb a mountain, get a few scars and be satisfied with one find for the day.

OMG! 10 years. Seriously does not feel that long ago.

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/10-fun-out ... artphones/ describes "geodashing" and "GPS mission" which could be modified to get into something which can be done considering the area covered.

Ahhh, a scavenger hunt?
Re: 2016 / 2017 Game
I honestly do the "drop a large number a coordinates" and whoever manage to find most wins. Or 100 points divided by number of finders of that coordinate.caughtatwork wrote:Ahhh, a scavenger hunt?
The question is of course how to distribute them in such a way that it is doable to get a couple of them for everybody....
Maybe a thing for another time when I have my brain working.

Re: 2016 / 2017 Game
Not sure what it means in reality but the summer games should be about "bringing people together". The gnomes did this very effectively as people talked about where they were, swapped, hid and found them.
Not sure a dZ based game is inclusive enough.
I've never done the olympics / federation challenge but it sounds interesting if it is a mix of hiding (which I like) and finding (which I suck at) caches.
Just don't do the bingo thing where caches were made to meet the targets (and in some cases without regard to quality).

Geocaching Australia made that post. Who's the organiser? Maybe they know what is happening.
