Re: Placing caches without GPS ??
Is it important, as long as the cache is findable? Wendy It's important because seekers will "follow the arrow" to the location of the listed cache and expect it to be within a reasonable distance of that. If the listed coordinates are in a dangerous location that the cache placer isn't aware of be...

Re: GPS Story on Catalyst
I often wonder why the Garmin 60CSx and others take seemingly ages to lock on to four sats when you switch on but the car GPS seems to have them almost immediately most of the time. The car GPS doesn't need to be accurate under 30m though I guess. Perhaps because the car gps is always a "warm" star...

I guess Leek is just going to drop by every two years and tease us that he is getting into caching again.
Was just reading his last thread from Jan '09. We sure don't get threads derailed by trolls like we used to!

By the way, the NSW, SA and QLD feeds are wonky at the moment, but should rectify themselves in due course. Re: How often does GCA update?
Updates tend to be less frequent than daily and more frequent than weekly. Something to do with faeries and buckets......... :-k Where on GCA can you count only your GCA finds? I know you can below your name on the forums but is there somewhere else for if I haven't posted anything recently? On your...

Re: How to upload GSA data to iPhone (geosphere)
Just installed geosphere and followed murf's instructions for setting up a bookmark with the GCA gpx URL as I am not a GSAK fan. At first it did not work and "timed out" but restarting the iPhone made it work like a charm. Looks like a good program and will make finding GCA caches a lot easier. =D> ...

Re: Geosphere (iOS) update - now available
Bought geosphere today to enable me to more easily seek GCA caches. Dick Smith Electronics are selling $50 iTunes cards for $40 at the moment so effectively it was at a 20% discount! Followed murf's instructions for loading the gpx files from here: http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=12&t...

Welcome Tarya.
In the centre of the city, GPSr reception can be really poor due to signal blocking and reflection by the tall buildings. Reading hints and checking rough location with Google maps can help.
