Re: Any lessons for the newbies to be learnt here?
We have six caches that have been in place over10 years still original containers. our 2, 9 year caches, one is still in place and 1 was burnt in a fire. 2, 8 year caches still in place in original containers. OOps I tell a lie Mt trio was changed when the old ammo tin got full of water. Still don't...

Re: 10 Years as a listing service
I remember the brouhaha that the original Tsunami listing caused as it was about the same time as we got serious into geocaching. Couldn't work out the fuss at first. Someone can correct me but way back then a cache listed in WA, Blair Witch was logged by us in about mar2005. This was the first log ...

Re: How do I register a new spot?
If you leave a container with a logbook at the site it would then be eligible to be a geocache on teh Groundspeak site provided it met all of the the other listing guidelines. Take the co-ordiantes of the spot where the container is and then go through the listing requirements. On this site ie geoca...

Re: GCA Cache Loot
We collect stuff from Bunnings, and the $2 shops. When you walk th eaisles in Bunnings look at the clip strips. One of the rules within bunnings is that they must be less than $10.(except the toolshop). Then look at what can be split. Ie we bought a 3 piece tool set(Sidecutters, Long nose pliers and...

Re: Armchair discoveries
I've always found discovering trackables at events a bit bazar ( but each to their own I guess )let alone logging a trackable you haven't seen. ... I think I'I just stick to finding boxes Same here and glad I now longer bother with trackables bar one that is still out and about. The game seems to b...

Re: Two million caches
I deleted the NA log and contacted the placer telling them why. I trust Ministro will ignore it as well. I'm very tempted to do a bulk delete on these notes, especially the ones with TB numbers in them. There seem to be a lot of people who really don't get the "Go outside and find things" basis of ...

Re: a simple GeoGame and it's rules..
You could always use a Rogaining style point system. We do have a person who has designed a GPS Rogaine in the forum here. By that I mean the list of caches is set for all players, a starting point is set for all players, points are allocated to caches for ease and distance from start point, teams s...

Re: Who owns the land.
I thought the states/territories own the land in the first instance. The Federal goverment owns some but only those areas like World heritage, NAtional Parks and National Highway corridors.
The most Freehold title under individual ownership is Victoria which I believe is 60% private freehold.

Re: Australian Power Trails
Now everyone's entitled to their opinion... Great idea, and likely to attract cachers to the area hunting numbers, as evidenced by those who have been to, or are planning on going to, the Port Macquarie area. I sure wouldn't complain if I woke up to 100 new nearby caches, I've got to drive a LONG w...

Re: Caching Etiquette
Although, thinking about it as I was hanging the washing on the line it would depend on who rolled up at GZ. We used to take pleasure in taunting Chwiliwr when he was too slow at getting out of bed. And if we returned to WA and beat him again we would probably show him where the loser could sign the...

Re: Caching Etiquette
We like the solitary/seceretive nature of caching. However we would not be impolite. If we saw people at GZ we would more than likely not approach and even take pleasure in getting the cache, signing it, and putting it back without you knowing we had been there. That is what caching is to us. In the...

Re: Those Badges and those Darned logs!
I used a themed template log for an Invasion event a year or two back which I thought was pretty humorous. It was actually so I ensured I got as much hard cache data about the hunt as possible for the next finder (search time, hazards etc). I continued with it for a while afterwards but retired it ...
