Re: "Throwdown" or "angel cache"?
. I was always taught it's uncool to log more than one find on a cache no matter how many times you visit it and it's uncool to log a find on your own cache. IMHO that is what these people are doing. To me you cant "find" a cache you placed, you know where it is so therfore it's not really finding ...

Re: Two million caches
I would hate to be that poor cache owner, with the messages which must be overloading his in tray. We placed a new cache a few days ago (pre-announcement of the 2mill'th cache), not even thinking about the issue. Luckily (sort of) the reviewer questioned our co-ordinates, saying he thought they look...

Re: "Throwdown" or "angel cache"?
Re the above posts relating to the Greenock cache, I have now had a reply from the CO. They had simply not been aware that it was in need of maintenance and as they had replaced the missing cache thought all was well. Apparently it had again disappeared more recently. So they are now replacing the c...

Re: "Throwdown" or "angel cache"?
Do the right thing. Log a "Should be Archived" against it. Don't let other suffer the fate of going to a cache you know if not there. OK, I will follow this sound advice. Edit: I have now followed through on the action suggested above. I apologise if that is what I should have done at an earlier st...

Re: "Throwdown" or "angel cache"?
We searched for a cache (GC2KZYO) the other day at a lovely bridge location in the small SA town of Greenock. After some fruitless searching I checked the previous logs and discovered that about three or four posts before, a fellow cacher had admitted to being a butter fingers (their language, not m...

And clearly Secret Geocaching Santa has been to that mob already. That's why they look so happy.

Re: Unfortunate first geocaching experience
So yeah, just as I refuse to hide my firearm if spotted by visitors in a state forest,    I think I'd most likely run and hide. Someone walking around with a gun would scare the bejesus out of me. I am with Tronador on this one. Someone wandering around with a rifle wou...

Re: Unfortunate first geocaching experience
Here in SA we currently have extensive bush fires, including some deliberately lit by arsonists. The geocaching community has raised the issue of being especially careful about being in fire prone areas and acting in what could be seen as a suspicious manner while searching for a cache in the area. ...

Re: Australian Power Trails
To me, if you are an individual cacher you go to each cache you are claiming and sign the log. :!: If you haven't been at the cache site and claimed a find you are a cheat, and just cheating yourself. To me it is black and white. :-# At least I know that the caches we have done we have been there. ...

Re: Welcoming Committee.
As a relatively new member, I admit to being frequently bamboozled and confused about not only the forum but caching as well at times. The issue of the need to separately log a find (when you cache as a couple) comes to mind. I am familiar with the board here (PhpBB) but not with the intricacies of ...

Re: Effective Stealth Techniques
Team Wibble, that video was pure gold. We want one of those vests - mental note to self to get one. Similarly I had thought one should carry a couple of those portable and light orange traffic cones, which strategically placed around a GZ would give you an excuse to probe around. The camera is...

Effective Stealth Techniques
As a result of being in a new place and finding it hard to adjust to high-concentration muggle activity, it occurs to me that we need to wise up to new and creative stealthy searching techniques. We are visiting Cairns (QLD) and finding it hard to access and replace a cache due to the sheer volume o...

Re: R U OK - Depression & Geocaching.
Yes, I am a psychologist and have a particular interest in depression and anxiety conditions. Both can be dreadfully debilitating conditions which can be hard to get on top of. All of us at sometime have experienced a mild depression in response to life's events ("reactive depression") but a clinica...

Re: Update of GC logs to GCA
I have just joined the forum and had also wondered how to display my current finds and hides (when I have some). Is there some wonderful behind the scenes magic I have to weave first or do the fairies do it all for me :) Chris The faeries do it. http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/Chrisval7 Then check ...
