The update was pulled back off the website, but is still available as a torrent - there is a link in the whirlpool mobile phone forums somewhere. I have a copy of the official update, but still choose to run a "cooked" third party rom instead. HTC claim that the update was pulled due to a problem wi...

If you're still determined to get a Pocket PC - go with a cheap second hand iPaq - preferrably running WM5 - which pretty much means the rx1950. I have one of these, and it's quite a nice device for the price, though I have stopped using it as I now have a WinMobile phone (Dopod D810). Will probably...

A personal note of thanks to Luckdogscrew for the review. I am looking at a new direction and wanting to upgrade my phone to a wifi / phone / email / gps tool. I'll also recommend the Dopod D810 for fulfilling these needs - the Windows Mobile platform also lends itself to use with caching applicati...

The phone I bought recently - Dopod D810 has a built in GPS receiver - though you will need to use a non-Australian rom on it to get it to work. The official Australian rom with GPS activated and an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 is a few weeks away. I can help with the install of a rom - it's simple a...

Problem with the e-tens is they are difficult to find in Australia.

If you want to get one on contract through a telco, then you're out of luck as well.

The D810 is available on 3 at a pretty good rate, through Optus and I think maybe Vodafone has them as well.

That X800 is very impressive though.

To get you started check out my posts starting here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=658349&p=24 and going for the next 2-3 pages I think. I discuss both using the official (for Asia but not Australia) Windows Mobile 5 rom and the unofficial Windows Mobile 6 "cooked" roms. IMHO it...

I have a Dopod D810, which has a GPS receiver built in (though no official Australian marketing material will reveal this).

To get it activated requires some fiddling about, but I have TomTom and RichesseGPS working on it.

Can't comment on the accuracy with regards to geocaching as...
