Re: Event stacking
As the owner of said event up near Cameron's Corner I would like to add that 'event stacking' is a regular thing here in SA. Just have a look at the up coming June long weekend event. 3 event smileys for one weekend in the same location. The recent Anzac Day event in the Gawler Ranges. 3 event smile...

Funny You Tube link.
Apologies to those who may be offended by a little bit of language but the missus and I both found this funny. How many out there have good memories of the presenter from their childhood?? I suppose we have all grown up from those days... DISCLAIMER: We do not actually read such material to our daug...

Re: geocaching tools
If I posted a picture it would show a leartherman multitool as a common element of my pocket paraphenalia. So technically I carry a knife around too. It also comes in handy for a few caches every now and then. And then sometimes my work knife ends up in my pocket and I may have been at a bar and emp...

Re: Spot GPS Messenger
GPS equipped PLB for me. I wayed up the options and the PLB came out on top. SPOT2 -Purchase price $235AUD -Yearly subscription to make it usable is $115USD on a basic plan, add an extra $50USD for the tracking feature -While I can see some benefits of the tracking function, I always let people know...

Re: Overnight hikes with caches
Try the Heysen Trail in SA.
Lots of caches along its route, but it may take more than one 'overnight' to complete it.

Re: Thanks for the log
As a frequent visitor to Happy Chappies other visited forum as well (aulro.com.au) it is a good idea that goes over well on that site. Someone posts something interesting and then someone else shows their appreciation by thanking the writer for their contribution to the site. I see a thanks function...

Re: Do I Log A Find?
This cache was actually my very first ever found cache. Upon reflection it's not in a spot very worthy of a cache, and I believe the only reason it was put there was due to the Scout/Guide hall just across the road. The interest must have just been a fleeting thing and no scouts/guides or leaders ha...

Re: Burke & Wills - Markers / Cairns
Not sure if you are still needing help on this or not but good co-ords for the Pamamaroo Camp site near Menindee Lakes are S 32° 18.263 E 142° 29.901.
And I have a picture of the commemorative plaque that is there too if that would help.

Re: Which car GPSs display caches on the maps?
I use a TomTome Go720 for in car use and have it set up to display cache locations. Simple process, as GSAK makes it all really easy. I did have proximity warnings set up but disabled it as it was a pain in the proverbial. On the TomTom I simply go :Navigate to, POI near location, Geocache, and then...

Hmmm,
I worked all day on Monday (37), Tuesday (38.9) but today I knocked off early as it was bloody hot.
Not hot enough to not pick up a few caches on the way home though....

I though t I had knocked off for the day and could sit back and enjoy the A/C but then I get an emergency call to go and climb on someones tin roof to fix a leak from their evap A/C. Not quite a cat on a hot tin roof but close. And then I get home to find a heat distressed possum on the driveway clo...
