Whilst looking through the GSAK macro library yesterday I came across this more elegant solution by ProsperoDK. It shows the full hints and is not limited by the 88 character limit.[/url]

Use your "x" Garmin as a PDA backup

Whilst on a recent caching holiday my Palm PDA became unserviceable and so the holiday was abandoned. This caused me to review my caching technique and think about how I could better handle such a loss next time. I use GSAK and a Garmin 76CSx and use the internal 1000 waypoint storage area for unfou...

The only possible problem with a USA sourced one is warranty issues. Be that as it may, nearly all us Kiwis are using USA models. The American basemap is not a problem as when you write a map to the microSD card you never see the basemap again (unless you specifically select it). Do purchase a large...

I have a 76CSx which has the same chips as the 60CSx. In one word - Brilliant. Very sensitive - I don't think I will ever need to plug in an external aerial when in dense tree cover, urban canyons etc - locks on from within my house where my other gps's couldn't! Being able to store maps, tracklogs ...

Re: Bin - Decimal

J Re your converter queryI downloaded a small freeware scientific calculator called Calc98. I note that the above program is for those running WindowsCE (Pocket PC). For those running Palm OS products then look around for the freebie CALCUL-8! scientific calculator. It also does all those BIN/HEX/D...

:D It work's just fine for this Kiwi. :D Great job. I never before realised that Tuesdays and the 7th of the month were my most successful caching days! Wonder what that means? :?

The reason for my earlier post was that I was not sure whether you were using GSAK or not with your new 2 xPQ technique. I just foresaw a problem there with archived/temporarily unavailable caches not being picked up in GSAK with that 2 x PQ technique. I use GSAK to keep records on everything I have...

Question for !mike.

If you are using GSAK, using your PQ technique how do you sort out from among your unfound caches all those that have been archived in the last week?

I never again want to travel to an unfound that has been archived prior to my leaving on the caching mission.

My GSAK only seems to mark out the cache code column in red for caches that are "Unavailable". If a cache has been "Archived" the cache code column still appears in white (for an unfound cache). This has resulted in some unnecessary travel to an archived cache location. I am sure that GSAK is capabl...

Great map. Gives me some caches to aim for when I come over in November. Where do you keep the updated version? Is there something similar for NSW and ACT? Plan on doing a loop from Sydney down the coast to Melbourne and back to Sydney via Canberra via some caching along the way.
