Re: Report GCA Site issues here
See below. They are all 2y'stassies. There's quite a few more if required but they are all repeats on historical logs. I suppose the y'stassies could be editing historical logs but it seems unlikely. Poor old Simon was found over a year ago? Monday 7th September 2015 17:05:00 Remove from watchlist: ...

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Is the GCA site suffering from an attack of retrospectivity? I've just received a series of watched logs that are definitely historical but are currently dated.

Re: Proposed new home page
I must confess that my first reaction was that I hated it. However, I then discovered a useful little button down the bottom called "site map" and all was forgiven.
Looks good, and for someone stumbling on the site for the first time, it'll probably work better than the old site.

Re: Geocaching story on 7.30 last night
There is no right or rong when it comes to pronunciation, only convention. Should cow rhyme with mow or now. If you sow something, do you planting seed or are you referring to a female pig? I happen to prefer the kaysh pronunciation and it's nice to have an Australianism. It adds colour, oops sorry ...

19 GCA finds 1 GCA DNF 4 GC About 423km  :griffin Man, I got that wrong! Read my Speedo yesterday and realised I only calculated kilometres one way. I drove about 850km just geocaching in the first week of June! In a week? Were you on a bicycle? C'mon, you've got to try harder than that!

Re: Purge of missing movable caches
We seem to have a problem where we find a cache, move and log a cache the same day, then find out a year later that we're the last finder! I've put this down to being interrupted before the final click of "log". I've a busy e.mail and phone so it seemed possible that this had happened, then the unfi...

Re: Is Geocaching Australia worth pursuing?
I suspect the problem with an Iphone app may be the Apple ethos. I recently purchased a piece of technical equipment that uses Bluetooth and a newly developed Android app to communicate with Android devices. The Android app is available free of charge and was developed at the behest of the equipment...

Re: Is Geocaching Australia worth pursuing?
To be honest I wasn't even aware of the distinction between GCA and the 'main mob' - I was introduced to geocaching by a friend with the iPhone app, and thought what I was seeing here in terms of caches was really a mirror of the app's caches..... I am now assuming that there are caches here that a...

Re: Is Geocaching Australia worth pursuing?
The demise of GCA would probably be the demise of our personal caching. It seems a bit presumptuous, but if I were to be asked as to why GCA numbers are down, I would suggest a focus on getting cachers to "hide", rather than "find". Bingo I think was a mistake. It focused on the numbers, rather than...

Re: New version of "your computer has errors" scam?
I've known for years to hang up on callers who claim to be from "Windows" and say "Your computer has been reporting errors" or suchlike. However I just had a possibly new version of this scam. They first "proved they were OK" by giving me my (correct) name and address and then said the usual line a...

Re: GCA Android App - GA Cacher
I know its been a long time but just pushed out a new release.. with mainly some UI changes and move to Google Maps V2. I have bumped the minimum android release to Gingerbread V2.3 which is about 5 years ago so hopefully this won't impact most people. Change log ========== 0.55 * updates to UI add...

Re: New Server
First Performance Benchmark Test Ok, so we've got the current database in and run a query that will bring a server on to its knees. Basically it calculates how long every person who has ever logged a cache in Australia has been caching for, scanning and sorting over 10 Million Logs and 300000 geoca...
