Re: Newbie thread: Which Magellan handheld GPS to buy?

I have ditched the Triton 400, well,... it had a stroke and died really. It wouldn't boot up so I sent it off for a software service and to my suprise and new eXplorist 510 arrived in the mail as a replacement. It was Christmas and I'm not asking any questions 8-[ :-$ . In summary, I'm impressed. Pr...

I found one recently for a personal copter that just strapped on, a Japanese invention. Tried to get the boss to buy us one as an "engineer fast response vehicle" that also solved the problem of getting onto the roof but no luck. Guess the US$60k pricetag killed the idea a bit.<p> some peopl...

A bit stingy on their part. It's not like Geocaching is a high impact activity. Geocaching 9. Geocaching is not permitted in protected areas managed by the NPWS. 10. As an activity organised from the internet, geocaching events have indefinite time frames and undefined numbers of participants, rende...

When I played soldiers we got the latest Trimpak GPS http://incolor.inebraska.com/iceman/pilot30.htm It was a real no frills thing that was heavy and very slow. It was quicker to work out your position with a map and compass. Under trees (jungle) it was hopeless. We left it in the Landcruiser most o...

A pool chlorine tablet container?
They have chlorine or clarifier tablets in a half sized container that would suit your needs. They are about 100mm diameter and 250mm long with a nice waterproof seal.
Just need to find someone with a pool that needs some tablets :?

One thing I have noted is that new cachers don't have the "emotional baggage", that some of the long term players have when it comes to finding caches, they don't care where a cache is listed or why. They just want to find them. All my caches so far have been off the international site, simply beca...

Years ago I was out bush playing soldiers and we were laid up in the scrub. There I was lying on my stomach looking over the sights, being nice and quiet when from off to the left a dark head appears from the long grass and slides in front of me  . It lifted itÂ’s head and paused with itÂ...

Introspective time

What got you into geocaching and why do you still do it? Is it because you like secrets and the though of knowing stuff that those around you donÂ’t, a sort of dormant Spy gene  ? I enjoy the hunt more than the surprises inside the box, it is also a challenge to get a 5 year old focused on ...
