Re: Android Geocaching Apps - Swype
A shortfall of Swype is that when you enter an unusual personal name, brand, technical term or geocaching name, it doesn't provide that sequence of letters as an option. So you then have to revert to tapping. If it always placed the letter stream as the first word choice, it would be much smoother. ...

Re: new GCA android app
At home when I took it outside, it was there for 15-20 minutes - our GPSrs in this exact location need just minutes to find out where they are aafter a move. The GPS symbol at top of Desire screen would go on for maybe 5 seconds every minute or so. No other issues with the phone nor apps. Have used ...

Re: new GCA android app
Well today it mis-located plenty and crashed plenty and finally out in the open (i.e. on a windswept cutover forest hill above everything within a few kms radius) where there was great 3G reception as well as satellite reception, everything worked fine. So I guess you will tell me that somewhere in ...

Re: new GCA android app
just uploaded a new release with some small changes. Paul HTC Desire S. Installed the app Wed I think and it checked out OK in my work location. Looks quite useful thanks. Today at home I installed the upgrade. Went outside for the app to get the GPS fix and curiously it resolved my location as Far...

Re: new GCA android app
We know that web developers have difficulty with this concept, but it's a sort of book that came with the phone which tries to identify features and enables them to be differentiated from bugs. I couldn't find this forum's Like button so until I read that page of the forum guide cum manual (which u...

Re: new GCA android app
OK guys, thanks for letting me know the search does work - just not on my Android. A recent search worked fine so I'm at a loss to explain it. Will have to wait til I get to that page in the phone guide - only up to p32 of 243.

Like 'The App name currently is "GA Cacher beta" ...' ?mtrax wrote:check out link in the first post, thanks
Gee Mtrax, I'venever been good at puzzles. I guess I'll try addining in the quote marks but unquoted should still have come up with something useful especially on Google's own platform.

Re: new GCA android app
I can find the app via Google on my desktop but when I search in Market on my Android for GA Cacher beta, I get a null return.
I'm new to the Android so maybe my search term is incorrect in some way

Re: Which app to use on Android?
I think you got it right first time. I haven't seen anything on Android that comes close. The c:geo developer(s) responds to gc.com change stupidity quite quickly. Does it handle GCA caches? While on Androids, or perhaps specifically my new HTC, do you think it is rather counter-intuitive that you ...

Cache displacement in Canterbury NZ
A little something for a wet Sunday evening while awaiting the tennis or Tour de France  If you thought finding some caches is hard enough, spare a further thought for Cantabrian (NZ) geocachers. And also visitors like us, heading over to Canterbury and getting in a bit of geocaching while the...

Re: Maps - What do you want?
Add NearMap.com to the viewing options. With its resolution I will be able to virtually visit virtual caches and ramp up my score massively  It just occurred to me that the Multiview function in NearMap could be used to log some earth caches without visiting. Checked it out on an earth cach...

Re: Development time / cost for your website
Get a a life guys - a real life that is  If it helps in those occasional moments when you simply want to throw in the towel; I started in IT software 15 years before you c@w. Reading your posting made me realise that the pro bono projects to which I had a personal relationship are the most en...

Re: GCA website: a rose by any other name ...
Just list it on GCA anyway. That's what I did See what you mean. But it would have to be a puzzle cache like yours to make it meaningful otherwise it is two almost 'park and grabs' and I can't see the point of that. Thanks for the idea Norkmeister, I've got a few weeks to sleep on it. Kenny

Re: GCA website: a rose by any other name ...
In the end the laugh  is on me. After my post below I went to delete my GC embryo cache listing. To locate it I did a search on GCA 'Bolwarrah' which is the location and is in the name. A swag of Bolwarrahs (mostly sans 'h') came up which didn't surprise me as there are a few such locations in ...

GCA website: a rose by any other name ...
I'm not bagging GC but .. well yes I am. I just finished off a draft cache on GC or so I thought. Somewhere twixt Saving the listing and heading into Attributes, updating and Saving, Enabling, da dada da dada - all my carefully crafted final updates to the listing went missing. Now that was sort of ...
