Report on number of caches in an area?

Hi, I'm trying to get a stats report out on the number of active caches in the Shoalhaven area, which covers postcodes 2540, 2541, 2538, 2539, 2535 and some of 2577 (Kangaroo Valley) When I put the Postcodes into the "Search for Geocaches" on GC.com, it doesn't have an option to select NSW and gives...

Re: Garmin Oregon GPS "can't authenticate maps" - Help!

I prefer the CD version of Garmin maps , I often look at where I have been to by uploading my track log from the GPSr , I know exactly how fast I was traveling at any part of my journey. Good when you want to know how fast you just drove through a radar camera If you can't swap the CD for the sd ca...

Hi CP, that's a definite possibility at this stage. Do you know if it's still possible to load additional caches onto the sd card, or to swap the map files onto a bigger card?

Re: Garmin Oregon GPS "can't authenticate maps" - Help!

Did you open the Mapsource program and then clicked which maps you wanted to load onto your unit? You can't just copy and paste the map files straight from the cd or pc Thanks for the reply Skippy. I don't have any reference to Mapsource on the packaging nor on the myGarmin page - the maps I bought...

Re: Garmin Oregon GPS "can't authenticate maps" - Help!

THanks CP - I don't think I can jsut drag the file from CD to card - it needs to go through the unzip/install process I think.

Thaks for help anyway, my next step is to sit on the phone for an hour waiting for the Garmin help desk - but first I'm going kayaking!

Re: Garmin Oregon GPS "can't authenticate maps" - Help!

Thanks for reply, Cheesy Pigs. Yes, the download settings recognised the Garmin unit, and I downloaded to the unit. Then when the map didn't load, I tried to download it again to the SD card, but then it didn't recognise the product serial number and/or product key.

Re: Garmin Oregon GPS "can't authenticate maps" - Help!

Have you checked that the map files actually made it to the GPS OK and that the SD card is sitting OK in the GPS. The Oregon models have a habit of letting the SD card loose so you lose access to the card until you physically reset it back in place. The computer "finds" both the GPS and the SD card...

Garmin Oregon GPS "can't authenticate maps" - Help!

For the last 3 hours I've gone through the Garmin help page, and googled answers elsewhere, when I probably should have come here first. ](*,) Issue: Brand new Garmin Oregon 550 Brand new CD Garmin Topo Map Action: Insert CD, allow to extract files, identify GPS. All easy so far. Checked on MyGarmin...

Re: Jervis Bay Territory caches - listed as NSW

Woops... I've got 2 caches out in Booderee National Park. I'm well aware that they are in ACT territory, but I listed them as NSW, after giving it a lot of thought. My reasoning was that if visiting cachers did a PQ by state, then these caches would come up in NSW. Most people don't realise that the...

Re: Geocache Management Vehicle sign

Hmmm. My link went to a FREE offer, the normal price of $18.99 was crossed out. If I can use the art work above, I'll have a go at ordering one http://www.vistaprint.com.au/car-signs.aspx?GP=12%2f14%2f2011+1%3a09%3a52+AM&GPS=2283285931&GNF=1&GPLSID=0963023492&rd=2 Create your magnet in minutes.
