Re: 5/5 Virtual Events in States of the Nation
I understand the motivation, and sometimes the chips fall one way, and not necessarily your way... I still don't think it excuses the fact that I solve a puzzle cache some 50km away, and discover, for no reason than "we want some points", that GZ is down in Tasmania... And yes, the distance based a...

Re: 5/5 Virtual Events in States of the Nation
I will not publicly argue the merits of specific geocaches. If the game administrators determine the claim is not within the spirit of the game it will be handled. As far as people continuing to go beyond what would seem to be in the spirit of the game. Each breach adds a straw to the camels back a...

Re: 5/5 Virtual Events in States of the Nation
While I appreciate this, I also think that this sets a precedent for future games (ie, if you feel you are disadvantaged, bend the spirit of the game to fit your needs), and will end up having to implement rules to ensure it doesn't happen again. and to be clear, it's not about "winning" SoTN or the...

Re: 5/5 Virtual Events in States of the Nation
No concerns with that approach here. Thanks CaW
What of puzzle caches where GZ is posted in the "published" section and the distance between GZ and posted co-ords is >700km?

Re: Equity Concerns in the States Of the Nation Game
Another cache at Hall "An ode to Geocaching Australia" GA9880 has recently been changed from ACT to NSW as on the 20/12 it was listed as ACT but it now shows as ACT & listed and solved coords are in ACT. Don't know how it relates to Nessel's earlier post, but possibly keying errors Phlphotos - Abso...

Re: Christmas in July Game
Yeah, GC and GCA caches are great down here - I'm very much more into GCA caches at the moment. It's overlooked by many and I think that needs to change - I'm happy to have a tenth the finds on my caches as a GC cache could, but I figure - one day, that won't be the case :) SDL and Fitzy of late hav...

Re: Christmas in July Game
And I must say - I've had a lot of fun this time around - the first time I've since I started using GCA that I've had time to play it.. and play it I have! Last game was a bit overwhelming (for me) due in part to Uni (yep, CSU do session 3 over summer), Christmas AND doing 60+hr weeks at work (inclu...

Re: Garmin Chirp
Chirps use ANT+ eh?
I might have to take my bike computer to a chirp cache and get it to tell me what it sees =P
(Better yet, could take a laptop with my ANT+ USB dongle, with appropriate software.. hmmmmm)

Re: Christmas in July Game
Hey Tronador! I'm claiming them around 12:01-12:05 each morning.. so that might be why ;) (Staying up watching the Cycling. Seem to always remember at that time to log my claims!) I think you've got it though. I've got no more Large Mystery Finds to claim - only ones Published ones! (Still Waiting f...

Re: Improved experience with Mystery caches
I've got a feature request with the c:geo devs to add GCA in.. but I suspect that'll take a long while
In the meantime, I've been dumping GZ's into a custom google map (my maps)... and using that. Also useful for keeping other points of interest for other cache puzzles/multis etc..

Re: Request: Statistics for Active Cache Types
Thanks caughtatwork I was just thinking of making a caching dashboard, and I'd like to pull the counts etc of queries... rather than the list of the caches etc. eg... I want to write something that tells me every day "You have x caches left in your home state, there are x active moveables you haven'...

Re: Request: Statistics for Active Cache Types
Thanks CraigRat!
No rush, I'm just curious as to the breakdown of caches on GCA is all.. I could just run queries and get the counts on that too...
I will have to learn how to automate some of the stuff not yet in the API
